Vision coverage from VSP is about more than 20/20 vision. In fact, an eye exam by one of our network eye doctors can reveal more than 270 chronic conditions. (Source: Full Picture of Eye Health, American Optometric Association, March 2020)

Workpartners, a leader in Human Capital Management, analyzed the health outcomes of 162,000 U.S. employees and their covered spouses who received an eye exam between 2017-2020. The findings show that, when comparing the outcomes of those with vision coverage from VSP versus another vision carrier, healthcare costs are lower in the first year after a chronic condition is identified for VSP members.
On a per-person basis for someone diagnosed with diabetes, the estimated one-year savings with VSP Vision Care coverage was $1,773. For someone diagnosed with hypertension, $2,633 in healthcare costs was avoided.
